Best of Ukraine: an orange Furmint!

Though Furmint is the number one grape of Tokaj, a bit to the east, through the Ukrainian border in Zakarpattia region it is also important. Out of the Ukrainian entries the highest score (91 points) was given to an orange version of Furmint by Chateau Chizay, and it made it the Best of Ukraine.
Best of Italy: Nativ Vico Riviera No99 from Campania

Nativ is a relatively young (founded in 2008) and small (15 hectares) winery in the south of Italy, in Irpinia wine region within Campania. Nativ Vico Riviera No99 is a white wine made of the indigenous Falanghina grape, and the 2024 vintage won Grand Gold at Winelovers Wine Awards 2025 with 95 points, which made it the Best of Italy!

Best GrüVe of Hungary: Steigler Bio 2022

Grüner Veltliner is mostly known as one of the best white Austrian grape variety however, “GrüVe” can give great wines on the other side of the border, in Hungary as well. Sopron wine region on the west of Hungary has a unique climate and soil structure, and the grape also has its tradition here. Steigler is an organic winery with outstanding wines – as it was also proved at the last edition of Winelovers Wine Awards.
What earns a wine a Grand Gold medal?

The 2023 Winelovers Wine Awards resulted in many wines with scores above 90, and despite rigorous scoring, the jury awarded four Grand Gold medals. Pajzos 6 Puttonyos 2017 Legend Aszú and Trifecta Szent Tamás 2017 Aszú had the highest scores of 96 points, while Holdvölgy Culture Aszú 2010 and Bodor Winery’s Cabernet Sauvignon 2016 earned their top medals with 95 points.
