3 exhibitors' fun facts of Winelovers X trade tasting on 9 June

Winelovers Wine Awards is not only an international wine competition, but a complex platform with several side events, one of them is Winelovers X, a trade tasting on 9 June. The venue is the hotel of the wine competition, Ensana Thermal Hotel in the charming Margaret Island. Are you a wine professional? This tasting is worth an escape in the green heart of Budapest! Entrance is free of charge for the members of the wine trade.  The first 15 exhibitors are revealed.

The Swiss love Hungarian wines

5 Swiss buyers participate in WWA

This year five wine Swiss importers / buyers will arrive in Budapest and will participate in our Meet the Buyer programme on 9 June morning. They will also taste the wines of the exhibitors at Winelovers X on 9 June afternoon. What's the point in this Swiss focus? Well, we have good reasons: in this gloomy era of decrease in wine consumption, the sales of Hungarian wines to Switzerland have increased – among others due to these people.

Two strategic partnerships: Auchan and Hungarian Sommelier Championship

Following the success of last year, the Wine Store of the Year*, Auchan Hungary teams up with Winelovers Wine Awards again, to create real market opportunities for award winner wines of the contest.
What is more, this year the Hungarian Sommelier Club also agreed on a partnership with Winelovers Wine Awards, and hold the 3rd Open Hungarian Sommelier Championship as part Winelovers Wine Awards, at the same time, at the same place. As a result, top international and Hungarian sommeliers will judge the entered wines and will meet the exhibitors at Winelovers X.

The buyers at WWA do buy wines!

Some success stories from last year

Meet the Buyer is an important and popular side event of Winelovers Wine Awards. Certainly this year we are also preparing this professional "speed dating" session with the participation of Hungarian wineries and our invited buyers. The meetings are short and concentrated, but still these brief encounters can get the business in motion. Let us tell some results from the 2025 edition!

"The result boosted sales of all our red wines!"

Winemakers explain why it is worth entering WWA

We asked wineries that had entered Winelovers Wine Awards for the first or second time and whose wines had performed well. We were curious to find out how they felt, six months on, about whether it had been worth entering the competition. Let us share some thoughts from Agancsos Winery (Villány), Attila Cellar (Eger) and Lenkey Winery (Tokaj).

A success story: from Winelovers to Warsaw

Meet our Polish importer guest, Ewa Hangel

Winelovers X and Winelovers Meet the Buyer are great opportunities for wineries to meet our invited foreign importers and buyers. Meet the Buyer is already full, but we still accept last minute applications for Winelovers X wine expo. Ewa Hangel was our guest last year as well (she comes again this year), and she made some great businesses here. Since then, Cseri wines from Pannonhalma, Maul wines from Villány have been available in Warsaw. You can still join! Let's meet on the on the 30th of June in Budapest at the Ensana Thermal Hotel Margarete Island.

Interview with Richárd Labancz of Pannon Borbolt

There is only one company in Hungary, which imports, distributes and sell wines from several countries of the Balkan – with great success. Pannon Borbolt is one of the exhibitors of Winelovers X, the trade wine exhibition organised along Winelovers Wine Awards international wine contest. As Richárd Labancz sommelier, winemaker and expert of the company commented, Pannon Borbolt will present about 13-15 wines, from the great value ones to the top ones.

Essi Avellan MW's special session in Budapest

The 3rd edition of Winelovers Wine Award will feature several novelties, one of them is the renowned Finnish sparkling expert, Essi Avellan MW evaluating and counselling on sparkling wines. Only 3 more places are available at this unique professional session! If you produce sparkling wines and you are curious about the opinion of the judge at CSWWC – the "Oscar of sparkling wines" –, show your bubblies to her on 28 June in Budapest, eye to eye, privately. The top expert will dedicate around 20 minutes to each producer, therefore a maximum of 6 wineries can apply for the opportunity, and 3 places are already taken. Don't miss a "speed date" with the co-author of the sparkling encyclopaedia!

Interview with chief executive of the organiser on the British The Buyer online magazine

"Interested in Central European wines? Looking to branch into more countries, but are not sure how to start? Well the Winelovers Wine Awards could have the answer. It has started a new Wine Buyers Program that is designed to bring buyers directly in contact with producers and wineries across Central Europe." – this is how the recently published interview with István Tábor begins.
